Steps to reproduce: 1. On the Mac with OSX 10.5 or lower (not 10.6) install WebKit 2. Launch it - things go fine by now 3. Exit WebKit and install Safari 4b 4. Try to launch WebKit after restart Results: WebKit fails to launch, we get an error message and Safari 4b instead Expected results: Safari should launch normally (it is) and WebKit should start with its own version of rendering engine.
What error message do you get? Are you sure that when WebKit launches Safari it's not launching correctly? You can check this via Help -> About Safari and looking at the version string.
> WebKit failed to open correctly > WebKit failed to open correctly on your previous attempt. Please disable any Safari extensions that you may have installed. If the problem continues to occur, please file a bug report ... The browser that launches is > Version 4 Public Beta (4528.16, r41176) I've disabled all the extensions that prevented Safari 4b to start, so, Safari 4b itself starts normally. All the extensions remained worked normally with WebKit. But after installing Safari 4b, WebKit cannot start. I've tried to install newer versions of WebKit. The same versions run correctly on the other machine.
