According to http://miksovsky.blogs.com/flowstate/2012/02/labeledinput.html , the space around a checkbox is clickable. I don't have IE handy right now, but we should see what other browsers do and maybe get this behavior spec'ed.

This seems more like platform behavior than something we should look at other browsers for inspiration.
