For me I want to upload a patch to a bug that I reported and it`s OK by the web, but when I use the script it block me because I`m not the assignee and not privilege to set.
In my opinion it could warn me but not block me, it should be consistent with the web way.

And the status of "Assigned To:" is "Nobody" at that time.
