On certain websites, the zipcode 11733 is rejected--it truncates the first 1.
On the same websites, 11794 is accepted--I haven't a clue!
A sample website with this problem is:
http://archive.democrats.com/elandslide/petition.cfm?campaign=conyers&refer=friend
The relevant source seems to be:
</tr>
<tr>
<td><font face="verdana,HELVETICA" size="-1">Zip (U.S. Only)</font></td>
<td><font face="verdana,HELVETICA" size="-1"> <INPUT TYPE="Text" NAME="zip" SIZE="5"
MAXLENGTH="5" VALUE="" > </font></td>
</tr>

I think this problem relates to server side logic and not related to html and webkit. I presume it acts
the same way in other browsers? I think the choice of using a political petition as a test case isn't very
appropriate. We have to join the petition if we want to test it! If you feel it is a bug then writing a
testcase or at least using a more neutral page as an example would be better.

I am sorry that this is a political site--that is where I found the problem; you do not have to sign the
petition--just fill in the zipcode field and then go to another field. Firefox does NOT have this problem.

I have found out some more; the origin of the bug is the following: in my profile in my addressbook,
I had my 9-digit zipcode. The field looks for a 5-digit zipcode, and Safari fills it from my profile.
Because I had 9-digits, it tries to cram it into the 5-digit slot and somehow truncates the first
digit rather than the - and the remaining 4 digits. Firefox apparently doesn't use my profile,
and so it doesn't have the problem. This is why it happens only with my zipcode on my computer.
So a temporary solution is to have just my 5-digit zipcode in my profile. I think however that the
truncation should be from the right and this problem shouldn't arise.
Stuart Morgan
Form auto-fill is a feature of Safari, not WebKit, so this isn't a WebKit bug.
