This issue occurs in Safari Technology Preview 242. It does not occur in Safari 26.4. It may be new to STP 242, but I'm not certain.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open https://www.espn.com in a new private window in Safari Technology Preview 242
2) Click to play a video in the timeline
Expected results: The video advertisement plays all the way through.
Actual results: The video advertisement freezes shortly after starting. The ESPN ad counter still advances.
This happens for me 100% of the time in STP 242.

Thank you for the report, I can reproduce as described. Works fine with macOS 26.5 beta, broken in STP 242.
