When a direct link to an image is in a Frame, it does not shrink to fit in the frame.
Examples:
The most obvious examples are found in the toolbars used in sites like Facebook, Reddit, and Digg.
http://www.reddit.com/tb/9xm27 – in Firefox, it looks like http://i.imgur.com/AB7Yn.jpg but in Safari: http://i.imgur.com/hMO4g.jpg
http://digg.com/d3161mQ is another example of this behaviour.
In Safari & most browsers, viewing an image larger than the window will cause the image to scale down to fit the viewport. In Firefox (for example) this behaviour also occurs when the image is alone in a frame, whereas in Safari the image is displayed at full size only. It would seem to me that Safari’s is not the best behaviour.

Firefox also lets one switch zoom back by clicking the image.
