Currently the Resources panel shows resource data in a "decoded" fashion - for instance, an image is actually displayed if the http response payload was image data. Bug 22920 will enable showing request data formatted in limited ways. In bug 22920, comment 21 Tim proposed also showing the data, optionally / alternately, in a hex format. This sounds quite useful to me.
