I already entered this via Safari's built in bug report system but was told that no one ever looked at those reports, so here it is again. Version is Safari 4.0.2 (530.19.1)
In short, canPlayType returns maybe when it should be probably and vice versa.

Oops, seems the search only finds open bugs by default, or I would have found the original. Good to see I was misinformed about those bug reports!
