When I try to load the webpage
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1122?viewlocale=en_US
I get the error message: Request Entity too Large
When I open it in Firefox all is well.

Can you check which cookies you have for .apple.com? You can view them in Safari's Security preference pane. If it looks like you have any large cookies then I would suggest:
1) Quit Safari.
2) Move ~/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist to your desktop.
3) Re-launch Safari.
4) Try visiting the URL again.
If the web page then loads successfully it would confirm my hunch that this is caused by an overly large cookie.
