1. Using iPadOS 17 with Safari 17, navigate to https://cdpn.io/pen/debug/WNvoOpM
2. Activate VoiceOver
3. Swipe through the page to confirm all headings are announced as heading level 2
4. Use the rotor to select "Headings"
5. Observe it announces a count of 1 fewer headings than are on the page
6. Swipe down to navigate by headings
7. Observe that the heading with `display: contents` cannot be navigated

Safari TP 179 on macOS does not seem to have this problem.

This is to be fixed in VoiceOver
Adrian Roselli
Is there a timeframe for the VoiceOver fix? Or will it only come in the next iPadOS update?
Adrian Roselli
Better yet, can you point me to the VoiceOver issue?
