XMLHttpRequest has been implemented for html, but cannot find a working example in SVG. the two attachments use an identical script, but only the html one behaves as desired. svg responds: You need a browser which supports an XMLHttpRequest Object parity Mozilla & Opera

What version of Safari are you using? I cannot reproduce this neither with Safari 3.2.1 nor with a nightly build.

Why are you saying that this is a regression? I suspect that you just have Adobe SVG Viewer installed, which takes over SVG display.

#7 ap, "takes over display" appears to be particular to safari in respect of this issue at least. a search for ASV returned zarro bugs filed a new bug 25154 have not included you in cc, but perhaps you would comment, close as dupe or whatever is necessary. this issue is very likely to arise again, as my set up changes regularly, if slowly.... tx again
