The summary says it all: WebKit should support HEIC/HEIF image display in web pages natively (and that means without converting those images to JPEGs or the like since this could not be done without loss of bit depth and such dynamic range.)
FireFox now has support for AVIF https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1443863 and I guess WebKit won't follow that suit because Apple. But can we please at least get support for HEIC/HEIF instead?
All those great images with high contrast could otherwise not be viewed correctly or without information loss.
Thanks a lot!
