The first two words of the article are "Le quotidien". WebKit does not render a space between them; the L is drop-cap. Beware reintroducing bug 18818. Version r38850 I will try to attach tiffs and a webarchive which captures the problem.

Took Wayback Archive Copy (as of December 1st 2008): https://web.archive.org/web/20081201053029/https://www.lemonde.fr/europe/article/2008/11/30/madrid-aurait-ete-informe-des-vols-secrets-de-la-cia-des-2002_1125157_3214.html It seems to render fine IMO in Safari Technology Preview 180. Marking this as "RESOLVED WONTFIX". Please reopen if it is still reproducible.
