Safari is very slow to load page with lots of images (FF is much faster)

Even from the cache, Safari is still *much* slower.

With JavaScript disabled, the images load instantaneously the second time I open the page.

I couldn't reproduce the "quick on the second load with javascript enabled" - exact steps...?

Develop > Disable JavaScript.
Load URL once. Close window. Open new window and enter URL.

CPU usage is very low. Looks like network latency dominates. For what it's worth, I did not get noticeably better results in Firefox uncached loads.
