After following the instructions to activate GDI text rendering at http://webkit.org/blog/168/gdi-text-on-windows/, upon running Safari it resets the value of WebKitFontSmoothingType in the preferences file to whatever it previously was.

This isn't a bug. Just change the value in Safari's prefs too. (Also this bug database is just about bugs in WebKit and not issues with Safari).

I did do that. It's Safari's preferences file that gets reset! Is there a bug tracker for Safari?
