After upgrading my desktop workstation to Slackware-14.2/32-bit I needed to rebuild gnucash-2.6.17. The builds kept failing and it took me over a week to discover why: two libraries provided by webkitgtk are of an earlier version from the libraries installed with 14.2. Interestingly (to me, at least) other icu libraries point to the installed version. The two that don't are installed when I built webkitgtk-2.4.11 (which is what gnucash requires, not the newer CMake versions), two libwebgtk libraries were not found by ldd: libicuuc.so.51 and libicudata.so.51. I made soft links to those version numbers from the installed version 56, but this is not a real fix. I'm a gnucash user, not a developer, so I urge you to contact them about providing a compatible version of libwebgtk that will build when all installed *icu* libraries are version 56. Thanks, Rich

This sounds like a downstream packaging issue that should be reported to Slackware. They need to rebuild their WebKitGTK+ 2.4 package against the newer version of ICU. Major distributions do this automatically as a matter of course so that you don't wind up with a broken system. Beware that WebKitGTK+ 2.4 is insecure and has not been supported by us since 2014.
