Could you please clarify which nightly and which OS version you are seeing this with? How do you create new tabs (keyboard shortcut, menu item, mouse click)?

Works now.
Did not work with two or three nightly builds before Version 10.1.1 (12603.2.4, r218163) when being used with OS 10.12.5
