Reproducible on Windows and Gtk ports. I'm typing URL and I check something in another tab. When I return, partially written URL is gone. Doesn't matter if tab is blank or already used

Tabs and the address bar are a function of the browser application that uses WebKit, not of WebKit itself. You should file a bug report against the browser application rather than WebKit if you believe this behaviour is a bug.
