I just updated to the nightly build.. I use gmail on their website and for some reason when I am in the body of the text and use my SHIFT key it moves me back to the SUBJECT field. I have also noticed the backspace wasn't working.. I first noticed it when I tried to reply to a message and when I hit the shift key to start my message the message was closed and archived.. I did turn off keyboard short cuts in gmail (since I don't use them anyway), but it still does the same thing.. It works fine in Safari and it worked find in yesterdays build.. Let me know if you need any more information. This did not cause a crash and I was able to send my email just all lower case... thanks and you guys are doing a great job..

Hi Bill, I'm unable to reproduce, but we just recently (yesterday) changed our handling of the shift/ctrl/alt keys so it seems highly plausible that something is now wrong. When you first noticed the bug did you have the To and Subject fields set? Did you have any non-latin characters in any of the fields? Cheers

the first time I noticed it was when I was replying to a message and when I hit shift it would take me out of the body part. Then I attempted to create a new message and can use the shift key in the TO and the Subject field but when I get to the body and I would hit shift it would take me back to the subject field like I hit shift tab (which I didn't).. Let me know if that helps.. I also do not have the upgraded version of gmail.. I know they are in the process of upgrading gmail.. I still have the old version. thanks..

I can confirm that the problem is specific to the old gmail, closing this as works correctly (as our behaviour is correct). It's likely you're hitting a work around for an old safari 2 bug. It sounds like the gmail updates are slowly rolling out for everyone, so hopefully it will be available for oyu in the near future :-/ PS. It turns out bugzilla doesn't have a Works Correctly closing option -- so am closing as WONTFIX... bizarre
