This is happening to me very often lately. What happens with ephy is that you can't load anything else, so you have to restart it. Dan, I have opened the bug here for now, because I'm not sure if the problem is in libsoup or glib-networking, but doesn't look like a WebKit bug looking at the bt, see:

Btw, this is with WebKitGTk+ 2.12.1, glib-networking 2.48.0 and libsoup 2.54.0.1.

I know how to reproduce this with ephy.

1.- Open planet gnome. It keeps loading for some reason.
2.- Close the tab.
3.- Open a new tab.

Looking at the recent changes in glib-networking this could be a regression of

Confirmed this is a glib-networking issue, see GNOME bug for details.
