From a lunch conversation, we should consider adding a way to toggle painting/flashing the web page red whenever the frame rate falls below some threshold (say, 60fps). Although primitive, this mechanism would allow a person to visually identify when the frame rate falls below a desired rate and serves as an indication that further investigation is needed (say, using the Rendering Frames timeline in the Web Inspector) to improve the performance of the web app.
