There’s no way to retrieve control points that have bene dragged out of view. The view should probably scale to fit the bounds of the curve and the control points. <rdar://problem/24861458>

You actually can retrieve the controlpoints as the code chooses the closest point to the current mouse position when the user clicks on the bezier area. > The view should probably scale to fit the bounds of the curve and the > control points. If we are going to scale, should it only happen once the user lets go of a controlpoint (it resizes smaller if there was previously one offscreen and resizes larger if one is currently offscreen)? It should also only be a vertical scaling as you can't drag the controlpoints offscreen to the left or right.

Vertical scale-to-fit when you let go sounds good to me.
