I cannot repro on TOT, what platform are you using? If it is reproducible for you, can you gather an Instruments profile so we can see what's going on?

Hm, I can't reproduce it anymore. I recorded the GIF while running El Cap with ToT WebKit. Now the same build works fine.

Maybe you hire a case where the images we generate in canvas had to be rebuilt. That can be a slow experience.
