To make the rendered DOM tree in Safari's Web Inspector more readable, it is necessary to add a font-size increase/decrease setting. Other major browsers' devtools have keyboard shortcuts and menu items for this, including: cmd+ for increase, cmd- for decrease, cmd0 to reset.
Search results seem to suggest the only way to impact font-size in Safari's inspector is to edit framework CSS, which is both brittle and terrible. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15964612/changing-customizing-safaris-web-inspector-font
Especially with the prevalence of mobile Safari, this is a pretty critical feature. Without improvements like this, developers will go through all kinds of hacks to use a different inspector entirely.
