This problem doesn't occur when spoofing as Netscape 7.0.

There's an older radar report, which is now the original of 5347898: <rdar://problem/5303029>

I have just tested this in r25411 and can no longer reproduce the issue. I suspect this was fixed on Google's end, as Oliver tracked this down to being caused by a Safari 2 workaround in Google Finance.

I'm not seeing this fixed on TOT that i built yesterday (r25386). here is a detailed description of what happens for me:
1) load http://finance.google.com/finance?cid=13756934 -- >the webview is focused, but no focus ring around the page's search field.
2) press CMD-L --> an 'l' is typed into the page's search field and google provides a dropdown list of possible completions
3) press CMD-L again --> focus moves to the Safari address bar, as expected.
4) (optional) CMD-R at this point and repeat steps 2 to 3.

I misread the instructions in this report. The bug described also used to occur when the search field was focussed. This no longer occurs, but it does happen when the search field does not have focus as Alice mentions.

This seems to be fixed. Could someone please retest?
Alexey Proskuryakov
Not reproducible for me with shipping Safari/WebKit or TOT - apparently, fixed by Google.
