Given a row of (SVG) images, I choose "Print to File", Landscape, US Letter.
The resulting PDF is portrait with the concent somehow squeezed and cut off into a landscape US Letter subarea.

If, however, I create a custom page size with the exact proportions of the landscape US Letter (which, however, counts as "Portrait"), everything works...

This, at least with a mail from within Evolution, works properly with 2.44.x
