Sometimes, the address bar will behave one of two ways, both of which are unexpected:
1) Pressing return after inputting a URL will *not* activate the URL, but will move the selection away from the bar. To activate, the user must reselect the address bar by either clicking or using Cmd + L, and then press return.
2) Sometimes, the address bar will be activated prematurely. For example, to get to bugs.webkit.org today, I typed "bug" in my address bar, which autocompleted "bugreport.apple.com". As I was about to continue typing, the address bar activated to "bugreport.apple.com" without my input (I did not press the return key).
I would anticipate that both of these would have the same root cause, and I'm guessing that it's due to the new combined search/URL bar. I would also stress that these bugs are difficult to reproduce, though I see them frequently throughout my daily use. I cannot see any errors output to the Console, nor any indication of how to narrow this further.
Currently using Version 6.0.4 (8536.29.13, 537+), but this has occurred since Safari 6.0. I have classified this as a P1 with Major severity due to its temporary obstruction of completing common tasks.
I searched for this bug, but I couldn't find a related one. Perhaps I missed it.

Thank you for the bug report!
Address bar is not part of WebKit, it is in Safari. Please file a bug via <http://bugreport.apple.com> for engineers working on Safari to take a look. You can find more information about the distinction at <https://www.webkit.org/blog/101/back-to-basics/>.
