Nightly r16019 is the last build that will load on my machine. Builds >= r16021 all crash with similar error logs, however, even r16019 will crash after minimal use.

Ben, this one is very curious...
Question - are you running any foreign binaries in Safari? any "extensions" or the like?
Also, "Cocktail" which is like a tweak-ui for OSX that does alot of advanced preferences causes what seems to be the same crash log as yours - see http://bugzilla.opendarwin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10602
In that case, the user's ~/Library/Safari/Icons directory was chmod'd to not allow the user write permissions.
Lemme know on these questions, and check the permissions on that directory. Also, whether or not the permissions on that directory are okay, blow it away and let the new icon database start over.

At one time I had loaded extensions but had removed them all. Cocktail changed permissions on the Icons directory. chmod u+w ~/Library/Safari/Icons fixed the crash. I would think that checking/repairing the permissions on that directory at launch would be preferable to the crash. I assume that the Cocktail developer used that method to suppress Icon caching only because older versions of Safari/Webkit didn't crash. He'll obviously need to re-implement his "tweak." Thanks for the tip.
