    <thetext>It is most visible in IM programs like Empathy where selecting a text with emoticons, copying to the clipboard and pasting as plain text strips the images away. I&apos;d expect it to use the &quot;alt&quot; attribute instead as this is the closest representation in text mode. You can test it in Empathy, Chrome, Chromium, Midori etc.</thetext>
