This happens on both Chrome 4 (GA version) and the latest version of Safari. This is a big problem for us in our application, so if there is anything we can do to help track this down and/or fix it, we're happy to help. It is kind of hard to believe that this hasn't been found/reported/fixed before, but I can't find any trace of it. I searched the bugs db, but only this one looked close: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18017 . Don't know enough about webkit to know if it is actually related.
