<thetext>Epiphany does not play HTML5 videos in mp4/h.264 format, like tested here: https://tekeye.uk/html/html5-video-test-page. While https://html5test.com/ is reporting, that it should be supported.

There are several streaming websites I tried which are not working and some point out that epiphany does not support HTML5.

I use epiphany 3.30.2 within fedora 29. With fedora 28 and earlier it worked better, but not always.</thetext>

<thetext>Probably because you didn't install the h.264 codecs?
Please try again with WebKitGTK 2.24 and this env var set: GST_DEBUG="3,webkit*:6" and attach the log generated to this bug.

<thetext>MP4 works fine for me in Ephy Tech Preview on other websites, but none of the videos on that test page work, not even the WebM video. It doesn't help that there are no media controls anymore, so maybe there's just no way to start the videos.</thetext>

<thetext>Here in Ephy Tech Preview all videos of that page play, though i have to right-click and select play in the contextual menu because indeed... controls are gone :S</thetext>

<thetext>OK, you're right, they all play if I right-click. But it requires a lot of patience because the MP4 and Ogg videos are not playable until after they have fully loaded. That's got to be WebKit's fault.

Reopened bug #194367.</thetext>

<thetext>juls, if you can't play MP4 at all then I think you need to report this to rpmfusion.</thetext>
