WebKitGTK+ already suggests to add a "Learn spelling" entry to the context menu of misspelled words. By reading the code of WebContextMenuProxyGtk::show() and testing with Epiphany I found that the "Learn spelling" item was indeed suggested but not retained by Epiphany. I also tested to learn a new word in Geary, and it worked perfectly even after restarting the application.
