<thetext>Nightly version 24944, Safari Version 3.0.3 (522.12.1)

Using WebKit nighty I have a problem with GMail. Using the system WebKit, I don't.

When I click reply in GMail I get a text area for the reply. If I type I find the GMail keys are sill active i.e. 's' means Star. I have to click in the text area for everything to work properly. Using the system webkit I do not have this problem.

I get exactly the same behaviour with MailPlane with and without webkit nightly.</thetext>

    <thetext>See also: bug 14230.

MailPlane <http://mailplaneapp.com/> is a specialized browser just for GMail. It embeds its own copy of WebKit framework IIRC.</thetext>

<thetext>Yes, that is correct about MailPlane. Its embedded WebKit can be turned on and off so I performed the same tests as I did with Safari.</thetext>

<thetext>Just to confirm then, does this bug occur when using Safari, not MailPlane?</thetext>

<thetext>Sorry, the last line of my original report was ambiguous.

I get the same behaviour with Safari and with MailPlane. Using the downloaded webkit, focus does not seem to have switched properly to the text area after clicking on reply. Special keys like 's' (star/unstar) do their GMail function, others go in the text area, some others like delete don't do anything at all. Once I click in the text area, everything is fine.

Using the system webkit with either program, everything works correctly.

I can repeat this consistently.</thetext>

<thetext>I can confirm this report, the following information is identical to my experience: When using Webkit nightly build after hitting "Reply" in gmail, focus is not properly switched to the text field, i.e. gmail hotkeys are still active until I click within the text box of the reply.

When using system Webkit in Safari this does not happen. I am also able to repeat this behavior consistently.</thetext>
