I've reproduced this here: http://jsfiddle.net/joenudell/6ftozo9r/4/ The fiddle does what I'd expect in the various versions of Chrome, FF, and IE that I tried, but fails consistently in Safari 8.0.3 (10600.3.18) and the latest WebKit nightly (r180599).
