Description Laurent Humbert 2006-01-15 07:41:05 PST
Hi, Safari's pop-up blocking feature works great here except for *one* site: www.freenews.fr

If you go to this site's home page and click on any story link, a massive pop-under is open...

Normally I wouldn't care but this site really has good stuff on it.

Thanks

No pup-up is shown here.
I saw also some popups in the last few months, but this seems to be fixed in Mac OS X 10.4.4
So I hope to hear from you if this is still a problem after you upgraded your OS.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry I forgot to mention the exact system version I'm running: 10.4.4

This also occurs on 10.3.9 with the latest Safari upgrade released a few days ago.

Hum... I thought that maybe they'd restricted the (French) ads to IP addresses in France, but I just asked
a friend in the UK to check (he's running 10.4.4 too), and he does get the popunder windows.

I don't understand how you can not get them. Note that going to the main page doesn't trigger the ads.
It's just every time I click on a news story link that a big pop-under window the size of the screen
opens. So if I click on a dozen links, afterwards, there's a dozen of ads windows to close.

Thanks;

L

Behavior confirmed with 10.4.4 (417.9). But I don't know whether this is handled in WebKit or in Safari
itself.

I was unable to reproduce the problem in Webkit r30191. Is it already fixed?

Works for me on Webkit r75294, Safari 5.0.3 (6533.19.4) and 2.0.4 (419.3). Current website and archive from archive.org around the report were also tested. I think it's safe to close this ticket.

Resolving per the above comments. Thanks!
