When accessing the University of Maryland University College's WebTycho site, a compatability check is run; the check never completes (i.e. hangs) when using Safari on OS 10.4. The site has an additional browser version check located here: http://tychousa7.umuc.edu/sys/browserinfo.html This check is unable to determine the version of the Java components and the whether or not the Flash plugin is installed. Presently, it is not possible to use a Macintosh computer with OS 10.4 to attend online classes at the University.
Created attachment 4916 [details] Output from Web Tycho Browser Check This is the output from Safari on OS 10.4.3 when running the check at http://tychousa7.umuc.edu/sys/browserinfo.html .
Created attachment 4917 [details] Screenshot-WebTycho with Safari After logging into the WebTycho site, this is as far as you can go when using Safari. It never finishes "Initializing Classes..." - it just gets stuck at this point. Works fine with Firefox (Mac and Windows) and IE on Windows.
(In reply to comment #1) > Output from Web Tycho Browser Check Well, this check _does_ detect the Java version, doesn't it? Flash detection is just broken - the script doesn't even try to check its version on Safari. You may want to report this to WebTycho support. As far as the real problem (inability to login) goes, I can reproduce it with test login; it seems to be a problem with LiveConnect: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: sun.plugin.liveconnect.OriginNotAllowedException: JavaScript is not from the same origin as the Java code, caller=http://tychousa6.umuc.edu/WebTycho.nsf/ setJVMCookie?OpenPage, callee=https://tychousa6.umuc.edu/sys/ http://tychousa6.umuc.edu/WebTycho.nsf/setJVMCookie?OpenPage This is with Safari 2.0.2; a debug build of ToT cannot open this site because of an unrelated assertion failure.
A workaround exists: at the login page, change http to https in the address bar and press enter to reload the page. Seems to work fine further on (and if there are any other problems, they are likely unrelated).
Mass-unassigning my bugs (I'm working on another team right now)
Site no longer exists, and we don't support plugins anymore.
