Description Andrew Saturn 2006-11-03 15:22:48 PST
in the latest nightly of webkit, when I enter an address that isn't correct, I'm directed to the spyware-looking / domain-squatter-esque "ww5.seek-aid.com"

this is on by default, it seems... when I delete my cookies it'll come back.

seems more annoying than useful...? maybe there should be an option to specify which search engine to use, if to use one at all, when a website can't be found?

Are you sure that this doesn't happen in shipping Safari, Firefox and other browsers?
Comment 2 Andrew Saturn 2006-11-04 12:09:08 PST
I only started to notice it after the latest nightly... but it does happen in all browsers!

I dont want to seem like an idiot, but I have no idea where its coming from. its not spyware - I'm on a mac! also, it tends to use msn.com or yahoo.com... where is this setup?

This is probably your provider's wrongdoing - they are getting advertising money by subverting DNS queries.

This is a gross violation of Internet standards, please contact your provider and ask to disable this "service" or to provide a workaround.
