Reduction
After the text disappear (which it should not), switch to a different tab and switch back to force a repaint.
Note that with the reduction, the fundamental problem is reproducible also in shipping Safari. The regression is probably due to some change that exposed the problem in more cases. Created attachment 7881 [details]
